Lightning Conductor Fitter Apprenticeships

The two year apprenticeship includes approximately 24 weeks in short block periods at the Construction Industry
Training Board College near King's Lynn, Norfolk together with on-the-job training, work experience and NVQ2 in Lightning Conductor Engineering.

Reasonable GCSE grades are desirable but not essential. Applicants must be able and willing to work at heights and to undertake the training and NVQ programme.

Applicants should normally live within 20 miles of the branch office - occasionally further afield (please enquire).
Normal arrangements are for pick-up/set-down from home and return (with possible occasional requirement to
travel to and from pick-up/set-down points or to the branch office - travel expenses paid).

Travelling is required with transport provided and lodging away from home as necessary.
Weekday overtime is usual with occasional requirement to work at weekends.

We normally recruit from June/July for apprenticeships starting the following January/February.
Initial employment until commencement of the 2 year apprenticeship will be as a trainee.

Rates of pay (reviewed annually in June - next review June 2008) are:-

From commencement of employment for one year £3.68 per hour.
Thereafter until end of 2 year apprenticeship £5.53 per hour.
On satisfactory completion of apprenticeship and award of NVQ2 - Lightning Conductor Fitter £8.45 per hour
